I feel the author could have taken the story a different way such as have the hero released and proven innocent and arrive in time to stop the wedding or kill of the husband at Waterloo and it would have been a HEA for all involved. Instead they drag it out for 5 years which is when the heroine returns home a widow with a young 4 year old no chance it's the hero's.
Then within 5 pages they proclaim their love and are engaged after only one encounter. The first book in the series was great this one was such a let down i mght not even read the last one.
If you have to read this borrow it don't waste your money! She ruined a perfectly good story! By Laura Evans Going along nicely, going along nicely. I like the two main characters, though their character development wasn't fabulous. That's okay for me if the love story makes up for it, but wait, what's that?
I agree with Tina, another reviewer, I want to chuck this book out of the window. Sorry, you broke a cardinal romance novel rule and I wasted 6 dollars and three hours of my life that I am not getting back. Poor people paying full price and getting this tripe, I could go on and on, but I'll end the rant now. By Annicken I agree with you Laura Evans. Even though I wasn't too crazy about the heroine because she seemed cold; however, I like the hero and I firmly believe that the story had potential and I was so hopeful about their path to true love.
And when the hero and heroine fell in love, I couldn't be more pleased and bamm!!! The heroine married someone else!!!! What the hell!!! I'm sorry but I hate stories like this where the heroine temporarily ended up with someone else, sleeping with another man, making all sort reasonings and justifying their actions. If this is what romance novels have gone down to, then I might as well watch all the crappy reality shows. How could you Julianne MacLean! This is not why I read romance novels. I'm so disappointed and angry with myself that I didn't do any research.
