One of my "power" user decided to delete Netmeeting from his desktop. How do i reinstall it? NetMeeting files are gone. The folder is still there but at least all its files are gone.

I tried to remove Netmeeting, after I did Not everyone uses Netmeeting, so for those who have no intension of ever using it here are the instructions for removing it. Remove It is better to copy and paste this command into the Run dialogue box.

I fyou have ideas how to get rid of that folder let me know. Tahnks a lot. There's a simple way to delete Netmeeting. After that, I remove the folder with the "rd" command. So, to ensure the folder won't be placed there again when I log to XP the next time, I create a zero sized file called "NetMeeting. That way, there is no way a new folder is to be created there with that same name. If you use FAT on your partition, you can boot up from a Windows 98 boot disk and do the same.

Even better, this way you can delete ANY file at all. Restart your computer and press F8 before the Windows XP boot up screen appears 2. Select Safe mode with command prompt 3. Access the folder: cd "program files" cd "NetMeeting" 5. Delete all the files in the folder: del. Delete the folder itself: rd "NetMeeting" 7. Create the zero-sized file: edit "NetMeeting.

Just save the file and exit Edit 9. Restart your computer and you're done. You can do it to other unwanted folders. I usually do it to "microsoft frontpage", "msn gaming zone" and "Movie Maker". Just remember that you have to empty every single subfolder before using the "rd" command. Ah, if you try to use this procedure to delete the "Outlook Express" folder, it will say that it is not empty, even after you use "del.

To overcome that, type "explorer". It will bring up your normal desktop, so access the folder through Windows Explorer, there you will be able to effectively delete it. Just don't forget to create the zero-sized based file called "Outlook Express. Thanks a lot There's a small program called UnLocker Assistant that will pop up right after Microsoft's Access Denied box and tell you which programs are tied to the folder you're trying to get rid of.

Tuesday, December 22, PM. I would like to follow up on this response - I have a similar situation where my company uses NetMeeting on XP machines and I was expecting to be able to run this legacy app using XP Mode in W7.

But it is proving to be very tedious First off, it does appear that disabling the integration components does allow the sharing to be functional in NetMeeting - thanks to Bob for this info, I could not find this solution anywhere else However, I ran into a gotcha along the way. I typically run the VM in a maximized window which inconspicuously causes the "tools" menu to disappear from the title bar although the "action" and "usb" menus do remain.

I think this is a bug. This wouldn't be a problem in and of itself, except that the VM seems to restart and re-enable the integration features every time it resizes - so there was no way to disable integration in a maximized window.

This seems to allow you to keep the integration disabled when resizing the window. So in order to get sharing to not be grayed out in NetMeeting, I need to do the following steps every time I want to use it: 1 "Restore down" i. I would expect that there are numerous companies that use NetMeeting religiously and this issue could clearly be a stumbling block for them moving piecemeal to W7. It would now seem that they should have created a version for W7 as well.

At the very least, I think that this topic would be worthy of a knowledgebase article so that it isn't quite so difficult to find. Friday, January 15, PM. Thanks a lot for your replies. I have gone through all the pain and been using net meeting for the past 10 days successfully.

But I the screen share is not responsive. I gave a try in vmware with my previous xp installation. It worked like a charm. Now I am able to work with other users with out any lag.

Hope this helps some one. If you 'must' use netmeeting, try vmware.
