There is a fully functioning virtual cockpit. As per usual in the cockpit a vintage aircraft, there is a very simple set of controls. All the instruments in the cockpit are fully functioning, including the starter button, throttle and mixture controls, 3D gauges and manual loading of the machine guns. The Camel was a hand full to fly, and this is represented well by the model's flight dynamics.

The flight dynamics were done by Pam Brooker and Paul Frimston. They used multiple sources including video, pilot notes and accounts, to get the dynamics just right. They did a fantastic Job. Flying the Camel in the simulator, I truly get a sense of how tough this crate was to handle. Be prepared for a very challenging flight! It may take a few times to practice a take-off before you get used to it.

This is a luxury that real trainee pilots did not have! The aircraft requires quite a bit of right rudder and right aileron to keep it under control on take- off. As your speed increases, use some forward pressure on the stick until the tail lifts off of the ground. This should be around 55 KIAS. Ease off of the forward pressure on the stick while maintaining right aileron and right rudder, otherwise the aircraft will want to roll left and downward.

Overall, take off happens quite quickly. From your initial power increase, until lift off is normally around six seconds. Take off will definitely take a bit of practice, but is very rewarding in the end. Notice the trail of oily smoke the engine leaves behind you as you climb. The Camel is not the aircraft of choice for a 'pleasant' flight. Constant input and corrections are required to keep this aircraft somewhat level.

The nose has a tendency to drift up, and it takes constant pressure on the control column to correct this. The aircraft is capable of great aerobatics, but performance and maneuverability begin to drop off significantly at higher altitudes, especially above 12, feet. Throttle settings for the camel are very elementary.

A setting of 1, RPM is sufficient to cruise. Descent should be made with a setting between 1, and RPM. This model comes with functioning machine guns. Holding the Brake key while airborne will unleash a burst of fire from the twin Vickers MG's, complete with muzzle flash, spent casings and tracer effects.

The methodical chatter of the MG's is very satisfying, especially when performing spectacular aerobatics in a mock dogfight! Or perhaps invite a friend online to multiplayer aerial dual. Landing the Camel is probably the most difficult thing you will do in the aircraft. It took several attempts and in real life, probably several destroyed aircraft with loss of life!

My method involves several 'S' turns, with a final right turn at about 60 KIAS over the threshold of the runway. Resist the temptation to flare the aircraft because it tends to want to flip you up and over. Hello Fellow Simmers, Browser support for older browsers, I know about the issue that wizzsim is not compatible on older computer systems since updating the website design. This is because wizzsim has been designed on bootstrap 5 framework which older browsers do not support.

As I understand many people still use older operating systems for flight simulator it never crossed my mind when I designed wizzsim with its current look that there would be issues accessing wizzsim on older machines. So to support older browsers I will look into a fix which may mean a redesign which can support both older and newer machines. In the mean time bootstrap 5 compatible browsers are Chrome version 60 or above, Firefox version 60 or above, ios version 12 or above, Safari version 12 or above, and all current supported browsers.

A great effect of firing the lewis guns when airborne can be easily added. View them. This list displays the first files in the package. If the package has more, you will need to download it to view them. This add-on mentions the following files below in its description.

It may be dependent on these files in order to function properly. It's possible that this is a repaint and the dependency below is the base package. Most of the freeware add-on aircraft and scenery packages in our file library come with easy installation instructions which you can read above in the file description.
