I didn't know you could drag and drop game executables onto a DosBox shortcut like that.

Drag and drop sure does speed things up. I've been researching other frontends. D-Fend looked really nice, but it has some serious bugs. Trash Can. Contact Us - Archive - Top. User Name. Remember Me? Mark Forums Read. Page 1 of 2. Friends list is currently empty.

So far I am unable to get my games to work in Wine, Cedega, and dosbox. Does anyone have a guide for installing dos games in dosbox? I am a newbie to dos games and doxbox. I would like to get Doom for dosbox, but I don't know which one to get.

How many Doom games are there that run in dos. Depending on the code the memory usage in DOS may be smaller or larger. Only a single process excluding TSRs runs at a single time so they own the whole memory space and manage that themselves. There's no need for process protection, a process can access everything.

For more information read DOS memory management. Thanks for your answer, I really want this game to be run in old OS, too. It is self-developed on the basis of open-source, but it had so many issues in the field of performance effectiveness. So I have optimized the main game loop and game object management modules till now, it runs much faster than before. It seems to be fast more than 10 times! It takes a few seconds for loading the game scene, but game fps is still low in Dosbox and freedos.

Could anyone teach me how to optimize the game? Of course, I am on doing that, but hope to hear your opinions. Stack Overflow for Teams — Collaborate and share knowledge with a private group. Create a free Team What is Teams? Collectives on Stack Overflow. Learn more.
